EASY Crochet Drawstring Bag | Small Crochet Drawstring Purse | Crochet Gift Bag Free Pattern

 I made this using lace yarn. Please don't run off yet - it's easy! You'll be using a larger hook, and it won't take you forever to make this. If lace yarn is not your cup of tea, but you still like the pattern, yarn substitution is also possible.😉

Working with lace yarn can be tricky because they're so small you can hardly see the stitches, and it takes patience to finish large projects. But I think projects made with lace yarn can look very elegant and cute at the same time.

I wanted to use lace yarn differently to give it a new look and feel. The result is this drawstring bag. I combined several strands of different colors to mimic larger, unplied variegated yarn. The idea of crocheting multiple strands of yarn together used to scare me off, but it is surprisingly easy if you use the appropriate hook size.

Below, you will find the video tutorial for this crochet drawstring bag, the materials needed, the stitches used, and the gauge.

Materials Needed:
4 colors of acrylic lace weight yarn (or substitute with a single light worsted weight yarn if finding 4 colors of lace yarn is too much trouble for you)
2 Leather strips (optional - you can simply make long chains)
Crochet Hook: 4.50mm (US 7)
Stitch Markers
Yarn Needle
Scissors

Stitches (US terms used):
MC = Magic Circle (See video tutorial here)
CH = Chain
SLST = Slip Stitch
SC = Single Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
BLSC = Back Loop Single Crochet
BLDC = Back Loop Double Crochet
4DCTOG = 4 Double Crochet Stitches Together (Bobble Stitch)
CH3-picot = Picot Stitch made with 3 Chain Stitches
YO = Yarn Over
ST(s) = Stitch(es)

Special Stitches:
4DCTOG = 4 Double Crochet Stitches Together, referred to as the "Bobble Stitch": (YO, insert hook into the next ST. YO and pull up a loop. YO again, pull through only the first 2 loops) Repeat inside parentheses() a total of 4 times all into the same ST. You should now have 5 loops on your hook and 4 unfinished DCs. YO and pull through all 5 loops on your hook.

CH3-picot: Make a CH of 3, SLST into the first CH.

Gauge:
Base Rounds 1-5 = measure about 12cm across
